Basketball Game Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Bennett Tigers

The Platte Valley Broncos will square off against the Bennett Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Platte Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.

Platte Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Eaton just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 58-36 to the Reds. The game marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Platte Valley had strong showings from Bryla Bunting, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 17 points, and Lauryn Uyemura, who posted 11 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. Uyemura has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bennett). They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 58-8 victory over The Pinnacle. With the Tigers ahead 39-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Platte Valley better keep an eye on Jessica Venneberg. She was instrumental in Bennett's win, going 8 of 13 on her way to 18 points along with eight steals and six boards. What's more, Venneberg also racked up five assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Olivia Schroeder was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Bennett's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Platte Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Platte Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bennett in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-57 victory.
