Basketball Recap: Lanphier Takes a Loss

Lanphier lost against Glenwood back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lanphier Lions were outmatched by the Glenwood Titans and fell 65-20. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Titans are ranked 52nd).

Glenwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hope Gilmore, who posted nine points and five steals. Gilmore has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Ava Bobb was another key player, going 6-for-11 en route to 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Lanphier and nudges their season record down to 9-16. As for Glenwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Lanphier didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-22 defeat against Rochester on the 15th. As for Glenwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 50-42 win against Springfield on the 13th.
