Basketball Recap: Jersey Takes a Loss

Jersey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost to the Highland Bulldogs on the road by a 70-53 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 207th).

Despite the loss, Jersey still got an impressive performance from Abe Kribs, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Brunaugh, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Jersey's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Highland, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-4.

Jersey wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-49 defeat against Taylorville on the 14th. As for Highland, they will host Litchfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
