Football Game Preview: Butler Golden Tornado vs. Connellsville Falcons

For the first time this season, Butler will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Connellsville Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Butler lost 40-14 to Westinghouse on Friday. The Golden Tornado haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Although Butler took the loss, they still got scores from Nicco Baggetta and Deacon Simko.

Butler didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Marcus Vicari and Tyson Pino.

Meanwhile, Connellsville had to suffer through a 48-21 loss at the hands of Morgantown. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 300th in Pennsylvania, while the Mohigans are ranked fifth in West Virginia).

Loss or not, Connellsville got some senior leadership from Christian Thomas and Caden Matthews. Thomas picked up 227 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Matthews threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes.

Connellsville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Butler against Connellsville in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 31-0 victory. Do the Golden Tornado have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
