Basketball Recap: Pamlico Christian Academy Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

If Ahoskie Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Pamlico Christian Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Lily Mathews. The Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners took down Ahoskie Christian 50-32 on Tuesday thanks in part to Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Julia Koontz was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Ahoskie Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mara Dae White posted 16 points and three blocks.

Pamlico Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Ahoskie Christian, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pamlico Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Heritage Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ahoskie Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against Terra Ceia Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st.
