East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] faced Mound City in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] lost to Mound City at home by a 44-28 margin. East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mound City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Ivey, who rushed for 129 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. John Gard was in the mix as well, providing the Panthers with one score.

East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax]'s defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mound City, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
