Brashier Middle College Charter hasn't had much luck against High Point Academy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bengal will square off against the Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brashier Middle College Charter has three straight wins, High Point Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Brashier Middle College Charter narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Laurens Academy 6-5.

Kaylee Coker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Lily Burton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more doubles the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Blacksburg hit High Point Academy with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 8-7.
Alyx Creel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. An'Dhia Adams also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Brashier Middle College Charter's record is now 8-13. As for High Point Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Brashier Middle College Charter might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from High Point Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bengal avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
