Baseball Recap: Analy Extends Winning Streak to Six

Analy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They put the hurt on the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs with a sharp 13-3 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 24-2 victory last Wednesday.

Analy got a great performance from Cooper Schulz as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Schulz also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Tigers are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hunter Thomas, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Analy is 8-2 when Thomas posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Emerson Johnston was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Analy pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Analy will face off against Novato at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they will take on Santa Rosa at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
