Basketball Recap: Flora Comes Up Short

Flora lost against Mt. Carmel back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Flora Wolves were outmatched by the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces and fell 59-17. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Golden Aces are ranked 42nd).

It was another big night for Maycee Randall, who went 9 for 13 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven blocks for Mt. Carmel. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Hershey, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Flora and nudges their season record down to 1-14. As for Mt. Carmel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Flora didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-16 loss against Fairfield on the 28th. As for Mt. Carmel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-45 win against Edwards County on the 28th.
