Basketball Recap: Derek Mckean Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Adams Central

South Adams hadn't done well against Adams Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Starfires blew past the Flying Jets 70-49. The Starfires not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 6th (when they won 53-29).

South Adams got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Derek McKean out in front who shot 70% from the field en route to 20 points and six assists. Those six assists gave McKean a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Herring, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 14 points.

South Adams' win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Adams Central, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Coming up, South Adams will face off against Bellmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Adams Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-27 defeat against Eastside on the 14th.
