Basketball Recap: Cavion Stokes Key Part of a Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Williams won the last time they faced Providence Grove and things went their way on Monday too. The Williams Bulldogs walked away with a 71-62 win over the Providence Grove Patriots.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Williams to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cavion Stokes, who went 9 for 13 en route to 22 points and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Stokes a new career-high in shooting accuracy (69%). Another player making a difference was Jaeden Smith, who posted 16 points.

Providence Grove's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Thomas, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points. The game was Thomas' third in a row with at least 21 points. Stephen Beeson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Williams' victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Providence Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.

Coming up, Williams will be playing at home against Cedar Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Williams is facing Cedar Ridge at the right time seeing as Cedar Ridge is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Providence Grove, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-54 win against Wheatmore on the 11th.
