Softball Recap: Midland Trail Gets the Win

The matchup between Midland Trail and Summers County on Wednesday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 20-0 shutout. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Madison Rader made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Hall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Stonestreet, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Midland Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summers County only posted an OBP of .222.

Midland Trail's record now sits at 12-14. As for Summers County, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Midland Trail has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against James Monroe on the 8th. Summers County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
