Basketball Recap: Mcintosh County Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Metter

McIntosh County Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Metter Tigers. The Buccaneers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, McIntosh County Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman J?Myiah Moore dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassie McIntosh, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Metter found their leader in sophomore Zion Saffore, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Saffore is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Zacarea Walker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

McIntosh County Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Metter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

McIntosh County Academy will welcome Savannah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Metter, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Metter Tigers face off against the Portal Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metter has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matches.
