Baseball Game Preview: Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears vs. Harbor Teacher Monarchs

The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will face off against the Harbor Teacher Monarchs at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Port of Los Angeles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Harbor Teacher's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Port of Los Angeles' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Verbum Dei Jesuit 10-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Polar Bears' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jonathan Rosette made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has become a key player for Port of Los Angeles: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-3 otherwise. Rosette was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, Port of Los Angeles got a massive performance out of Jaydan Lamadrid, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Lamadrid also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rafael Vasquez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Harbor Teacher was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Fremont.

The win got Port of Los Angeles back to even at 4-4. As for Harbor Teacher, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
