Baseball Recap: Waupaca Takes a Loss

Waupaca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Freedom Irish. That's two games in a row now that the Comets have lost by just one run.

Ethan Harms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Waupaca is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Waupaca saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cael Prey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Max Dolski was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Waupaca now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Freedom, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Waupaca will be playing at home against Luxemburg-Casco at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Freedom, they will head out to take on Green Bay Southwest at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
