Softball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

River Ridge/Scales Mound had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the West Carroll Thunder 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Elizabeth Rife spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sarah Winter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Amber Schlarmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for West Carroll, they dropped their record down to 5-19 with the loss, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.

River Ridge/Scales Mound will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Thunder: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
