Recap: T.C. Roberson Rams vs. Asheville Cougars
The T.C. Roberson Rams came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 53-34 victory over Asheville. Given T.C. Roberson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Asheville is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
T.C. Roberson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max McDowell, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Jacob McGraw was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Cox, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cox has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Shaw, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
T.C. Roberson is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Asheville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. T.C. Roberson will challenge Erwin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Erwin: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while T.C. Roberson has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. As for Asheville, they will face off against McDowell at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
