Baseball Recap: Jones Drops Season-High Score on Senn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jones). They put the hurt on the Senn Bulldogs with a sharp 21-1 victory on Monday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jack Hiltz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Jones is 5-1 when Hiltz posts two or more runs, but 9-14 otherwise. Christophe DeWijkerslooth was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Jones kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Jones has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Senn, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Jones will venture away from home to take on Payton College Prep at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.72 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Senn, they will square off against Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
