Baseball Recap: Lakin Has No Trouble Against Elkhart

Lakin never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Elkhart Wildcats with a sharp 7-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Broncs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Dru Patterson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Patterson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Kyle Douglas and Eli Bemis did most of the damage at the plate: Douglas went 3-for-4 with three runs, while Bemis went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Bemis has posted since back in April of 2024.

Lakin's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1. As for Elkhart, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Lakin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-8 win against Ulysses on the 17th. As for Elkhart, they will challenge Texhoma/Goodwell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
