Basketball Game Preview: New Castle Trojans vs. Yorktown Tigers

The New Castle Trojans will venture away from home to square off against the Yorktown Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Castle is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, New Castle came up short against Tri and fell 47-38.

Meanwhile, everything went Yorktown's way against Frankton on Wednesday as Yorktown made off with a 60-40 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Eagles are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yorktown is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for New Castle, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

New Castle came up short against Yorktown when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 60-52. Can New Castle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
