Central City Value got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andy Lobos out in front who went 10 for 21 en route to 24 points along with five boards and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Lobos a new career-high in blocks (five). Brandon Valencia was another key player, going 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.
Central City Value smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Downtown Magnets waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Stallions 74-44. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-20.
Central City Value better focus on containing Justin Huang and Gadiel Calanog as the pair were huge in Downtown Magnets' win. Huang went 10 for 19 en route to 25 points and four steals, while Calanog went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. The game was Huang's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Freddy Reyes, who posted six points along with eight steals and six assists.
Downtown Magnets is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Central City Value, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Central City Value has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Downtown Magnets struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Central City Value was dealt a bruising 86-27 defeat at the hands of Downtown Magnets in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Downtown Magnets' Jacob Agustin, who went 10 for 17 en route to 23 points and six steals.
