Softball Recap: Muir's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Muir was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hoover on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tornados a 15-0 shutout. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jazmin Jaquez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail (Abi) Milton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jaida Brown was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Muir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Muir moved to 13-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Hoover, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Muir will take on Sylmar in a tournament on Saturday. As for Hoover, they will host Workman at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
