Volleyball Game Preview: Minnechaug Regional Falcons vs. Westfield Bombers

Minnechaug Regional hasn't had much luck against Westfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will host the Bombers at 6:45 p.m.

Minnechaug Regional is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-13, 20-25, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Westfield had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Red Hawks as they made off with a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Westfield was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-11.

Minnechaug Regional better focus on containing Arlen Messier and Nolan Rodgers as the pair were huge in Westfield's win. Messier had six digs and five aces, while Rodgers had ten digs. Rodgers has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times he's played.

Westfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive games.

Westfield pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Minnechaug Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
