Basketball Recap: New York School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

New York School for the Deaf lost against Marie Philip back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The New York School for the Deaf Golden Tornadoes had to suffer through a 57-19 loss at the hands of the Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts. While losing is never fun, the Golden Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 937th in New York, while the Galloping Ghosts are ranked 59th in Massachusetts).

It was another big night for Xavier DeLeon, who went 6-for-15 en route to 12 points in addition to eight boards and five assists for Marie Philip. DeLeon has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 55 times he's played. Alexander Forfa was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

New York School for the Deaf's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Marie Philip, their record is now 16-9.

New York School for the Deaf does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marie Philip, they and Lexington School for the Deaf will face off at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
