Flag Football Recap: Mountain Ridge Does not Make It Easy on O'connor's Passing Game

Mountain Ridge fought the good fight in their overtime game against O'Connor on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 17-10 to the Eagles. The Mountain Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Amiaya Tice, who threw for 158 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 66 yards.

Even if they lost, Mountain Ridge's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lauren Laaker, Azul Mondragon-Lopez, and Tamryn Boucos, who each picked up one sack apiece.

The critical scores for O'Connor came from Kyleigh Adams and Becky Currence.

Mountain Ridge now has a losing record of 1-2. As for O'Connor, their record is now 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mountain Ridge will venture away from home to face off against Highland at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Hawks have yet to allow a single point through four contests this season, a streak the Mountain Lions will look to end. As for O'Connor, they will head out on the road to challenge Casteel at 6:00 p.m. on the 9th.
