Recap: Kalskag Grizzly Bears vs. Nelson Island Islanders

The Kalskag Grizzly Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Nelson Island, falling 87-41. Kalskag was down 66-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Kalskag lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joseph Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points.

Nelson Island's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brennan Lincoln, who scored 28 points. Lincoln hasn't dropped below 17 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Nelson, who scored 19 points.

Kalskag dropped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Nelson Island, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Kalskag will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Dillingham at 12:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Nelson Island, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chaputnguak at 3:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Nelson Island knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Chaputnguak likes a good challenge.
