Football Recap: Marco Island Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

Marco Island Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They secured an 18-12 W over the West Oaks Academy Flame.

Marco Island Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Asbell, who rushed for 74 yards and one score on only nine carries.

This is the second loss in a row for West Oaks Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marco Island Academy will welcome Central Florida Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Oaks Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on September 5.
