Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. Fike Demons
Hunt has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Fike Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hunt has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three matchups.
Even though West Johnston scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Hunt still came out on top. Hunt managed a 65-59 victory over West Johnston.
Hunt relied on the efforts of Drew Pittman, who scored 17 points, and Austin Joyner, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Joyner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Scott, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Fike's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 72-52 loss at the hands of East Wake. While losing is never fun, Fike can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while East Wake is ranked 178th).
Hunt's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Fike, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Hunt beat Fike 64-53 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Does Hunt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fike turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
