Softball Recap: California Trojans vs. Mapletown Maples
California was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mapletown Maples. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maples this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-4 back in March.
Avery Filby was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Kayla Saeli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
California's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Mapletown, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 4-12 record.
Looking ahead, California will square off against Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mapletown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
