Volleyball Game Preview: King William Cavaliers vs. Mathews Blue Devils + How To Watch

King William is a perfect 10-0 against Mathews since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will head out to challenge the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. King William will be strutting in after a victory while Mathews will be coming in after a defeat.

King William took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against King & Queen Central as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: King William took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-9, 25-9.

King William got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noel Sluder out in front who had five aces. Those five aces gave Sluder a new career-high.

Sluder wasn't the only good servers: King William was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Mathews suffered their biggest loss since September 18th on Thursday. They came up short against West Point, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Pointers: they've now lost four in a row.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-12, 25-12.

King William has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Mathews, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

King William took their win against Mathews in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
