Basketball Recap: Ascension Christian Comes Up Short

Ascension Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against North Iberville on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the North Iberville Bears by a score of 54-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Ascension Christian came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while North Iberville is ranked 369th).

Ascension Christian has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season. As for North Iberville, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-16.

Ascension Christian has already played their next game, a 68-56 victory against Episcopal on the 10th. As for North Iberville, they will welcome Belaire at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
