Baseball Recap: Mabel-Canton Cougars vs. Goodhue Wildcats
Mabel-Canton had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Goodhue Wildcats on Monday. Mabel-Canton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Goodhue apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Cayden Tollefsrud put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Tollefsrud was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
Tollefsrud wasn't the only one making solid contact as one players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kale Tollefsrud, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
The win made it two in a row for Goodhue and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
Mabel-Canton will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Southland at 4:30 p.m. As for Goodhue, they will head out on the road to square off against Medford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Medford hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
