Basketball Recap: Oaklee Reichard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Union City over Knightstown

Union City was the 47-39 winner over Knightstown when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Union City Indians fell 58-48 to the Knightstown Panthers on Saturday.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oaklee Reichard, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points in addition to four blocks and three steals. The dominant performance gave Reichard a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Kerns, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points.

It was another big night for Anna Roberson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds for Knightstown. Roberson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Halleigh Lacey, who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Union City's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Knightstown, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union City will host Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Knightstown, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Eastern Hancock at 6:00 p.m.
