Basketball Game Preview: South Tahoe Vikings vs. Truckee Wolverines

The South Tahoe Vikings will challenge the Truckee Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Truckee took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on South Tahoe, who comes in off a win.

South Tahoe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Wooster 64-47 on Friday. The Vikings pushed the score to 58-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Colts cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Campbell Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 20 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Carly Cox, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Truckee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against North Valleys, falling 51-24. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 76th in California, while the Panthers are ranked seventh in Nevada).

South Tahoe will have to contain Becca Brown as she made an impact in Truckee's last game. She scored ten points.

South Tahoe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Truckee, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

South Tahoe took their win against Truckee in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 42-22. Does South Tahoe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Truckee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
