Preview: Crisp County Cougars vs. Dougherty Trojans

The Crisp County Cougars on the road again on Friday and play against the Dougherty Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Crisp County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Crisp County came up short against Wilcox County and fell 66-54. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crisp County in their matchups with Wilcox County: they've now lost three in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaylon Cooper, who scored 17 points. Courtney Oliver 4 was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Dougherty waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Carver 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

It was another big night for Jaion Burns, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleke Singletary-Jinks, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.

Crisp County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Dougherty, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Crisp County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Dougherty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Crisp County lost to Dougherty on the road by a decisive 75-60 margin in their previous meeting on January 5th. Can Crisp County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
