Baseball Recap: Carlsbad's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Carlsbad dropped their record down to 15-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-1 to the San Marcos Knights. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Carlsbad saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for San Marcos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

On San Marcos' side, Carter Tsai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Tsai has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Farrell, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Walker, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

While Carlsbad had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
