Basketball Recap: Jayden Ayala's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Camden County over Lowndes

Camden County was the 64-50 winner over Lowndes when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Camden County Wildcats received a blow on Friday as they fell 58-43 to the Lowndes Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Vikings are ranked 102nd).

Camden County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Ayala, who posted seven points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Ayala a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Revels, who had six points and five boards.

It was another big night for Kam Jackson, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 17 points for Lowndes. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Ferguson, who scored eight points.

Camden County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Lowndes, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Camden County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-52 loss against First Coast on the 25th. As for Lowndes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-45 defeat against Valdosta on the 25th.
