Basketball Recap: Wiggins Comes Up Short

Wiggins suffered their closest loss since December 13, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Wray Eagles by a score of 59-57. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Wray's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Tena led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Tena is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Adonay Gonzalez was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

Wiggins' loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Wray, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12.

Looking ahead, Wiggins will square off against Wray at 6:00 p.m. on February 20th. One thing working in Wray's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for they, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-50 win against Akron on the 19th.
