Game recap: Vista Murrieta High School Football Team bests Great Oak

TEMECULA, Calif. - Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Calif.) put an additional 10 points on the board on top of its 30-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out Great Oak (Temecula, Calif.) 43-3.

After taking the lead on a Coltin Gerhart touchdown run in the first quarter, the Broncos led 30-3 at the half.

Vista Murrieta grew its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. VM's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal by Aaron Ruth.

Gerhart and Tito Feliciano ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Wolfpack. Gerhart scored two touchdowns on the ground and Feliciano added two as well.

The Murrieta school entered the contest giving up 19.5 points per game this year. The Broncos held firm on the defensive front, and kept Great Oak well below the 36.3 points it had been averaging per game.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 65-14 win for Vista Murrieta.

The loss comes after Great Oak defeated Murrieta Valley 28-27 last week. The loss broke Great Oak's two-game winning streak. With the win VM extended its winning streak to three games.

Great Oak (4-3) goes up against Chaparral in a Southwestern game matchup next week, while Vista Murrieta (6-1) locks horns with Murrieta Valley also in a Southwestern game.
