Basketball Recap: Evan Haenick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Berkley over Cranbrook Kingswood

Berkley fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Cranbrook Kingswood on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes by a score of 57-54. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cranes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2015.

Berkley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Haenick, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Haenick is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Friedman, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

Berkley has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. Cranbrook Kingswood now has a winning record of 10-9.

Looking ahead, Berkley will take on Mott at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cranbrook Kingswood, they will take on Lamphere in a tournament on Monday.
