Softball Recap: Richland Comes Up Short

Richland blew Ryan out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Ryan got their revenge. The Royals fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 5-3. The Royals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 8-1.

Mia Berain made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sam Aguilar, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Richland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8-2 record this season. As for Ryan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Richland will face off against rival Birdville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Royals 3.3, the Hawks 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Ryan is set to square off against their familiar foe Grapevine at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
