Football Recap: Comanche Indians vs. Sweetwater Mustangs
Comanche lost against Sweetwater back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indians were dealt a 55-14 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cooper Welch threw for 137 yards and two TDs. Ct Buford was his top target, picking up 93 receiving yards.
Sweetwater got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jose Quintero out in front who picked up 127 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown. That's the most receiving yards Quintero has posted since back in November of 2024. Another passer making a difference was Caiden Ortiz, who threw for 156 yards and a pair of TDs.
Comanche now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Sweetwater, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Coming up, Comanche will host Breckenridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Ladanian Smith and Jaime Cruz. As for Sweetwater, they are taking a road trip to challenge Clyde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
