Winslow extended their losing streak to 11 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-19-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Show Low Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-5 back in March.
Brendan Knight and Zack Sanchez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Knight went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Sanchez went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
As for Show Low, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Winslow since April 20, 2022.
On Show Low's side, Landon Eriksen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Eriksen posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Easton Hatch and Nick Hall did most of the damage at the plate: Hatch went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Hall got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mason Bigos, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Winslow has already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Snowflake on the 28th. Show Low does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
