Football Recap: Bellflower's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Bellflower fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Gahr on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 13-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gladiators. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, the Buccaneers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Bellflower still got an impressive performance from Jade Walker, who picked up 75 receiving yards and one score. An impressive showing, but Walker really ramped things up playing D: she picked up nine sacks and made 11 total tackles.

Bellflower didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kendyll Upshaw and Ta'Lia Johnson.

With the loss, Bellflower broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4. As for Gahr, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Coming up, Bellflower will take on La Mirada at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Buccaneers will be up against the Matadores' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.08 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Gahr, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 55-0 win against Los Altos on the 18th.
