Baseball Recap: Tippecanoe Beats Fairmont for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Tippecanoe extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping their season record up to 23-3 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Fairmont Firebirds. For the Red Devils, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 win the Firebirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Anderson McKinney tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Tippecanoe's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carson Jackson, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Fairmont, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-17. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.38 runs.

On Fairmont's side, Skyler Slifer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Miles Osterfeld, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Tippecanoe and Fairmont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Red Devils (ranked 61st) will meet Piqua (ranked 284th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fairmont will face off against Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (170 vs. 441).
