It's playoff time, and Taft had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the King/Drew Golden Eagles on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Toreadors, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Taft got a massive performance out of Alexandra Chase, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Chase a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Levine, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Taft hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Taft's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for King/Drew, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-15.
Taft wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-3 win against Marquez on the 31st. King/Drew does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
