Baseball Recap: Hattiesburg Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

There's no place like home for Hattiesburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Pearl River Central Blue Devils on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Amari Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Ramarion Wilson and Tyler Weatherspoon did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Weatherspoon went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of D.J. Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hattiesburg is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Pearl River Central, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-8 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Blue Devils beat Hattiesburg by a score of 10-3 on Friday.
