Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamburg). They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Lake Shore Eagles on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Jacob Jaworski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Hamburg got a massive performance out of Colton Herod, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave Herod a new career-high. Erik Huggler-Canfield also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Hamburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Shore only posted a batting average of .276.
Hamburg's record is now 10-6-1. As for Lake Shore, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamburg will venture away from home to challenge Dunkirk at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Shore, they will head out to take on Fredonia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
