Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Whitwell's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Whitwell brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They never let the Moore County Raiders get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Brayden Riley, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Moore County off the board.

On the hitting side, Brodie Harvey was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jacob McCurry, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Whitwell has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Moore County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13-1.

Looking ahead, Whitwell will challenge Sequatchie County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moore County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-0 loss against Red Bank on the 18th.
