League recap: Sweetwater rises in state rank

Sweetwater moved up to 330 from 419 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Metro - Pacific. The Red Devils were able to move up by defeating Mater Dei Catholic 41-14.

Sweetwater took down the Crusaders 41-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Angel Reyes ran for 173 yards during the win.

Montgomery's dynamic duo of Dion Moore and Chauncey Emerson proved tough for Castle Park to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moore threw for 56 yards and 1 touchdown and Emerson had 40 yards receiving. Jason Rodriguez helped Montgomery's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.

Reyes provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Brian Hay's team topped Mater Dei Catholic.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, John Joyner's team's Marco Morales and Evan Bebee have proven to be a lethal combination. Morales has thrown for 555 yards this season, while Bebee has 17 catches for 272 yards. The Red Devils' Antonio Garcia leads the league in rushing yards with 699.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Sweetwater takes on the Trojans. As it stands, the Red Devils are in first, while Castle Park is in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Sweetwater and Hans Graham's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Red Devils comes in having scored 169 this season, while the Trojans have scored 196. Sweetwater scored 41 points last week as it bested the Crusaders.

The Red Devils led Metro - Pacific in scoring this week by notching 41 points on Mater Dei Catholic. Reyes ran for 173 yards in the win.
